Hermitage Wine Tour – Magnifique!
Our next docking took us to Hermitage. Hermitage is a French wine Appelation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC) in the northern Rhône wine region of France, and is divided into basically two areas. One of limestone, St. Joseph across the Rhône River, the other Hermitage, a hill that has been a vineyard for over 2,000 years with earth of granite. What a great Syrah they grow here!! The Europa Villager group went on a private wine tour to two different wineries. First the Cave Habrad, a mouthful of fantastic flavors and a wine barrel photo booth. Yes, we brought back a bottle or two to the boat to enjoy.
We then went to a much larger winery, Hermitage. This was a coup for the area production. Dan brought back an even BIGGER bottle of Hermitage.
We loved the saying posted here “Moyenne de la vie humaine…57 ans pour un buveur d’eau/70 ans pour un buveur de vin…a vous de choisir.”
Translated as “Average life of a human…57 years for a water drinker/70 years for a wine drinker…you choose.”
